ABOUT

Hello, and welcome! Thank you for being here. I’m Eve, a Professional Declutterer & Organiser, as well as a Certified KonMari® Tidying and Feng Shui Consultant with a coaching background in Positive Psychology. My work primarily involves assisting clients  – both, in-person in London and virtually worldwide – on their personal journeys toward achieving not only a clutter-free home but also a life filled with joy and purpose.

Every facet of Holistic Space Design is carefully crafted to serve as a gentle reminder to stay grounded as you let go of what no longer serves you. This journey will prompt you to delve within yourself, reflect on the experiences that have shaped you, cherish the life events that have brought you to this very moment, and envision the person you aspire to become.

To me, the KonMari Method® is more than just a tidying technique; it’s a way of life. Combining this with the principles or feng shui, intentional design and positive psychology, my holistic approach instills the wisdom of accepting your present state – be it physical or mental clutter – while granting yourself forgiveness as you release the old version of yourself. In turn, it opens the doors to welcome love, joy, and abundance into your life, guiding you to seek only the things that “spark joy.”

YOUR HOME IS YOUR LIFE'S LIVING VISION BOARD

In the wake of the pandemic, my life underwent a profound transformation. Like many, I navigated through a significant career transition. Applying the KonMari Method® to life itself played an instrumental role in letting go and finding my purpose; I eventually made the decision to close my beauty-tech startup – a venture I had devoted over five years of my life to – in pursuit of a new endeavour that brought me closer to my life’s calling, Holistic Space Design.

Working with me means I hold a judgement-free, supportive space to assist you in embracing Marie Kondo’s transformative approach to tidying and the art of feng shui and intentional design. Through this process, my role extends beyond decluttering and organising physical spaces. I’ll help you (re)discover joy in your belongings and create space for things that really matter to you. Consequently, elevating the energy within your living space but also cultivating a life filled with joy and purpose.

Many of my clients have found that adopting the KonMari Method® has a ripple effect, influencing various facets of their lives; By prioritising what sparks joy and brings them happiness, they become more mindful and positive in their overall lifestyle choices. This shift can encompass everything from reevaluating their shopping habits to redefining how their free time is spent.

Witnessing these profound transformations in my clients, both in their clutter-free environments and in their newfound purposeful mindsets, has been incredibly rewarding. Just as the KonMari Method® has transformed my own life, it is my utmost privilege to share this remarkable journey with you through the services I provide at Holistic Space Design.

The KonMari Method®

The Philosophy

The KonMari Method® was developed by Marie Kondo, a highly acclaimed Japanese organising expert and best selling author of ‘The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying’ who became a global phenomenon from her Netflix series, ‘Tidying Up With Marie Kondo’ and ‘Sparking Joy’.

The philosophy behind the KonMari Method® goes far beyond the traditional concept of decluttering and organising. Unlike the traditional approach that is often arranged in an adhoc or an ongoing basis based on the different rooms, your ‘Tidying Festival’ is a one-time event where we set a timeframe for when it starts and finishes. This approach highlights the significance of optimism, mindfulness and gratitude.

Consequently, it is a positive, wholesome process of letting things go that encourages you to reflect and think inward; To be grateful for and appreciate what you already have by only treasuring the things that “spark joy”, whereby you give thanks and bid farewell to things no longer serve you.

The Method

Marie’s radical method motivates you to “tidy once and for all”, hence the term, “Tidy Festival” (aka a tidying marathon!). Although it may sometimes be mistaken as a long-winded, daunting process having to tidy your entire home all in one go, it is also why this method is so effective and has gained popularity in the recent years.

Here are the six steps that form the basis of the KonMari Method®.

You must be fully present and willing to commit to this ‘Tidying Festival’ despite my full support and guidance. Only you can make the decision of what “sparks joy”.

Your first session includes visualising the person you want to become and the life you want to live. How does the future ‘you’ dress? What does the future ‘you’ like to do in your freetime? Where does the future ‘you’ live? It is important that you set clear intentions as to why you’ve decided to embark on this tidying journey with Eve. Think of this step as a way to manifest your dream goals in every aspect of your life.

As much as it’s lovely to have a Pinterest-looking home, it is essential that you declutter completely before you buy fancy storage items. Eve will help you utilise boxes and containers that you already have to organise your home before you make such purchasing decisions at the end of your Tidying Festival.

We tend to scatter our items across different rooms/locations within our home. So, imagine seeing how many clothes you have when you gather all of them in one place! This is a pivotal moment as you’ll finally see the bigger picture and wonder why you have all of these items in the first place.

There is a reason why Marie is very specific with the order of category you go through, starting with (1) Clothes, (2) Books, (3) Papers (i.e. documents, manuals), (4) Komono (miscellaneous items, i.e. kitchen items, toiletries, stationery), and finishing your Tidying Festival with (5) Sentimental items (i.e. photos, gifts). This order helps to strengthen your ‘joy sensor’, so by the time you reach the last category, it becomes easier to joy-check items that you are emotionally attached to.

The goal is to always surround yourself with things you love, so instead of looking for things to throw away, you make positive choices by shifting your focus on the things that “spark joy”.

FENG SHUI PRINCIPLES

Feng shui offers a profound perspective on how the arrangement of our physical environment can deeply impact our lives. Rooted in Chinese ancient wisdom that dates back thousands of years, feng shui is a practice that focuses on creating harmony and balance by optimising the flow of energy (often referred to as “qi” or “chi”) within a space through mindful placement of objects, colours, and materials to enhance the positive energy and reduce the negative influences within our surroundings.

In recent years, the concept of integrating feng shui with intentional design has gained significant traction in the realm of interior and architecture. This seamless integration of ancient wisdom and contemporary design offers a holistic approach, which seeks to create spaces that not only look aesthetically pleasing but also feel emotionally and energetically nourishing and balanced. Thereby, supporting your overall physical, mental, and emotional well-being that nurtures your deepest intentions and your life’s true purpose.

Key principles of feng shui include:

Feng Shui emphasises the importance of a smooth and unobstructed flow of energy within a space. This energy should circulate freely and harmoniously to promote health, well-being, and positive outcomes in one’s life.

The bagua is a fundamental tool in feng shui that divides a space into nine sections, each representing a different aspect of life, such as wealth, health, love, and career. I will use the bagua map to determine how to enhance specific areas of your living or working environment to support your goals and aspirations.

The balance between opposing forces, yin (passive) and yang (active), is crucial in feng shui. Achieving equilibrium between these forces is believed to create a harmonious environment.

Feng shui incorporates the five elements – wood, fire, earth, metal, and water – which are associated with specific colours, shapes, and materials. Properly balancing these elements in a space is thought to promote well-being and harmony.

It is important to take into account the orientation of a space and its relation to the cardinal directions (North, South, East, West) as different directions are associated with various energies and qualities.

Feng shui employs symbols, talismans, and remedies to counteract negative energy or enhance positive energy in a space. These can include mirrors, crystals, plants, and other objects with specific meanings and properties.

Decluttering and organising one’s space is a foundational practice in feng shui. Removing clutter is believed to clear stagnant energy and allow positive energy to flow freely.

Positive Psychology

It is within the walls of our homes that we experience some of life’s most significant moments and emotions, and through positive psychology, a field of psychology that focuses on the study of human strengths and well-being, it offers a framework for understanding how our surroundings can profoundly impact our mental and emotional well-being.

By integrating the disciplines of positive psychology, home organising, feng shui and intentional design in tandem, this transformative, holistic approach goes beyond the aesthetics of your living spaces. I will guide you to explore how the arrangement of furniture, colour schemes, and even the smallest details can positively influence your mental and emotional states. Ultimately, turning a space into a sanctuary that reflects not only your personal style but also mirrors your innermost desires for happiness and fulfillment as I truly believe that your home is your life’s living vision board.
